The vote has been taken and approved. What happens next is anyone’s guess. One thing that we know for sure, there’s going to be some pretty stiff opposition.
Some of that opposition appeared today in the form of a bill filed by State Senator Brian “public schools are the last vestige of slavery” Kelsey. Kelsey’s bill would effectively take over schools that are failing and have recently surrendered their charters. Wonder who that’s directed at?
There was a great deal of commentary, and there will be more no doubt. It will be interesting to see how the media covers this over the next weeks.
The Election Commission has requested information regarding the vote. There’s still the question of approving the minutes, a procedural issue that can be dealt with relatively quickly.
What happens next is anyone’s guess, though an election is the most likely “next step”. Beyond that, who knows?
