This episode includes an interview with Rebecca Terrell, the Executive Director of Choices – The Memphis Center for Reproductive Health.

Rebecca and I talk about the state of reproductive healthcare in Tennessee in the wake of the Amendment 1 constitutional amendment.

I also take some time to touch on the President’s Executive Order on immigration, and the reaction to it, changes in Gov. Bill Haslam’s administration, and the race for TNDP Chair.

For ‘My Take’ I talk about the attempt to suppress union organizing at the Chattanooga VW plant, and the company’s decision to work with the unions in the wake of that interference.

March 13, 2003—Nashville, TN: The state’s oldest and largest pro-life organization has announced its support for Mark Goins in the race for the 12th district Senate seat.

“As a former legislator, Mark Goins has already demonstrated his ability and willingness to protect human life,” commented Brian Harris, President of Tennessee Right to Life. “The pro-life endorsement signifies our view that Mark will continue to do more than simply “vote” pro-life. We are convinced that he will use his position to lead on matters important to the pro-life cause.”

“It is imperative that we fill the 12th seat with a leader committed to promoting common sense, pro-life policies. Mark Goins is such a proven, pro-life leader and with his election to the Senate, we can succeed in restoring protection and respect for human life,” commented Harris.

Karen Brukardt, PAC Director for Tennessee Right to Life also expressed confidence in Goins. “The outcome of many pro-life proposals may hinge on just one or two votes in the state senate. We must elect women and men such as Mark who have already demonstrated their commitment to restoring balance to our state’s abortion policy” said Brukardt.

Responding, Goins stated, “I am pleased to receive the endorsement of Tennessee Right to Life and am honored to have their support. My record shows that I share their dedication to protecting Tennessee’s unborn children.”
