WHAT: Members of Citizens for Better Education, Elected Officials, Community Leaders and Parents are holding a news conference to discuss:

• The County Commission’s role

• The Petition Drive

• Citizens for Better Education’s campaign

WHEN: Friday, January 7, 2011 at 11 a.m.

WHERE: The Vasco Smith County Building, 160 South Main, Memphis, TN 38103

DETAILS:

A group of elected officials, community leaders, and parents are holding a news conference to discuss the Citizens for Better Education: Vote “Yes” for School Unity campaign; the role of the County Commission; and the petition drive.

We are launching an organized campaign to educate and advocate for an affirmative vote for the charter surrender and refute fear tactics and misleading allegations against a unified school system.

Interview Opportunities: Chairman Sidney Chism, City Councilman Shea Flinn, Chairman Myron Lowery, Commissioner Martavius Jones, Commissioner Tomeka Hart, Rep. GA Hardaway, and other elected officials and community members supportive of the referendum.
