The House District 62 special election is two days earlier than the Memphis/Senate 31 elections, yet District 62 has a primary scheduled. It's August 27, and early voting starts this Friday.

Then again, that election was announced back on July 1, so there has been more time for candidates to organize. I'll be interested to know whether the October 15 date is a primary or a general in Senate 31. The shelbyvote.org site doesn't have any info up yet that I could find.

You're probably right about that, since there are 12 members of the Council, 7 would be a majority, even though only 11 are voting. Damn, could flip one, but two? No way in hell.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but Allan Wade has said that SEVEN votes, or a majority of the entire body, is necessary to remove a director.
